BIOINFORMATICS

The GVGDC offers a bioinformatic service that provides:
  • Custom database development in the field of biomedical research
  • Programming of custom sample tracking systems
  • Development of custom interfaces and applications for biomedical research
Examples of prior development:
  • A SNP and microsatellite genotype database system for the upload and retrieval of linkage and association data in the input format of the genetic analysis programs
  • An interface for the trimming of vector sequence from sequence reads followed by BLAST of insert sequence and graphical representation of insert position in the genome
  • A sample tracking system of DNA extracted from blood originating from multiple centers nationwide
Access the GVGDC Genetic Analysis Interfaces (requires authentication)

Software downloads for working with sequence/genotype data
  • FinchTV from Geospiza. This is a free, cross-platform sequence viewer.
  • Sequence Scanner from Applied Biosystems. A free sequence viewer with several available reports.
  • Chromas Lite from Technelysium. Another free sequence viewer.
  • Sequencher from Genecodes. A DNA Sequence Assembly/Alignment Software. (not free)

  • Stuffit from Allume. Compression and Expansion utility.
  • Winzip Another compression/expansion utility.
